So the theme for July as decided in the previous thread is function. Here are my interpretations:

Old function: hid a solider in to snipe away at incoming vessels. Function now: rubbish bin.



Functionless without a village:



Has a shipping function. But also an aesthetic one in that it looks nice:

Maybe I've got the wrong end of a multiple-pronged stick, but this is one that represents "function" to me:

I think that is what was cool about bigmuff's suggestion - cause you can interpret the word function in so many different ways. Mine was more about loss of assumed function. Which actually I guess in a way yours is too!

Radiator Mascot. Original function was to increase leverage and provide a cool surface to grip when opening a radiator on early cars.

Eventually, the mascot became more ornamental than functional and eventually evolved into the hood ornament, the sole function of which was to distinguish one model car from another:
