I think its good this whole practical skills thing like baking and sewing, stuff you'd really use at some stage. I got a whole PILE of buttons that fell off clothes and need to go back on. There's also nothing stopping men from doing it either, I know one bloke who's mad into his crocheting..

(there is also a later interview with her on this same podcast but I'm pretty sure this one has the discussion in it that i'm thinking of)
i LOVE her. she has a phd in feminism and has written several knitting books.
She's great. I've been reading a lot about her recently but haven't heard any interviews, so thanks. It will be cool to hear her voice as well, I like to be able to connect a voice to opinions.

sssh - a lot of men in prisons were taught to knit and sew. i don't know whether this still goes on now, but of the men i know that were inside during the 80's and 90's they were taught to a pretty high standard.

How do you see yourself and your hobby in the context of female history? Were you influenced by your gender in choosing your hobby?
I think there's a problem with the whole "influence" aspect of these questions, especially with the last one. How can you really know?
