Since the knitting thread dropped off...

I am knitting a scarf for an x-mas present.

knit one row, pearl one row.

But its curling round into a tube. Its quite a skinny one (I wanted to make a long Dr Who type scarf).

If I iron it will it flatten out? What am I doing wrong?

I believe stockinette stitch tends to do that. Perhaps blocking would fix it?

I'm trying to knit again, but I've really had to admit that it's not that I'm a beginner anymore - I actually just suck. I'm not sure I can make anything I'd put on my baby, although I did put an easy baby hat book on my amazon wish list.

After it's done, basically you soak it in water and then put it in the shape you want (but get a real description before trying it).
