arcadianwench's first tentative steps into the world of dressmaking.

Yessssssss! I have started a dressmaking course. So, never one to shy away from a freebie, does anyone know of any online sources for free dressmaking patterns?

*dances about in excitement* I'm making a pleated skirt as my first piece. The material is white, with maple leaves and the word 'canada' all over it. Can I wait? No I can't.

Are you Canadian, is that why you're making a Canada skirt?

I don't know where you can get patterns for free, but patterns are normally fairly cheap at Walmart or fabric stores.

Sewing is so much fun, I love putting patterns together and what not. Definitely post pictures of some of the dresses you end up making!

Nah I'm not Canadian. I just wish I was!!!

I found some really cheap patterns. Only £2.95 each. I'm making a burgundy pleated skirt first, so that if I mess up on my first try I won't ruin my Canada fabric!

Hopefully I'll manage to get the skirt finished in time for the weekend (optimistic much?!) for my bf's birthday. Otheriwse I'll end up spending money on new clothes that i won't like nearly as much as my new skirt!!

Thanks for all the tips, everyone!

I also started cross stitch. V. proud of myself. I made a squirrel, and it looks like one too, instead of me having to say 'it's meant to be a squirrel, but it looks more like a hamster.'
