| | | i saw this couples work at the des moines art festival this weekend: Home
the photos on the webpage do not do the peices justice. most of them were interactive and i thought they were really fun and sweet and evocative. the only art at the festival that made me happy cry.
off topic, sorry, back to magazines.

The Fine Arts Are Dieing...I'm very sad.
I'd rather go to exhibits at MOMA and The Whitney......it's less pretentious than the magazines. |

| | | I get Popular Photography and Photo Life.
Not sure if those are the kinds of magazines you're looking for but I thought I would mention them.

I guess I'm lucky to live where I live | why are museums the only valid way to view art?
thats a fairly closed minded and canonical way to look at things, imo |

I go to festivals often to (like the DUMBO art festival) and if you look them up, I'm sure there are some in your state or country also....I know they're all over. My friend in NC goes to exhibits and festivals that pop up when he can.
It's just, I've looked at juxtapoz and other art magazines and it's really not the same...most of it isn't fine art, and as I said this is sad because the fine arts are dieing. |

| | Digital Fine Art? Hahaha...is this a new term?
I dislike Ray Ceasar......More of a fan of Man Ray
I like more than the fine arts...I love art film, everything from Loops to short films to full lenghth art film and much photography... but my point is that if people don't pay more attention to fine art now, it shall die. Northern Germany seems to still be focusing on using just a canvas and a brush still.. I just wish there was a more prominant amount of that
Oh and Fine art definetely doesn't mean only using certain subjects
Example of a Digitial Age Artist that I Adore: Ben Frost. He's australian. You may like him. |

| | | but why do you think "fine art" is so important? and why does it seem is has to be one or the other? i should point out that i adore good old fashioned, proper drawing/painting, particularly portraits - but i dont know what you mean by "pay more attention to". do you mean more patronage to fine arts, forcing schoolkids to break their necks looking at the old masters in galleries?
i actually know of and like ben frost, though he is a little more on the pop art end of things, which i find very hit and miss |
