Diana camera

Anyone have experience wit the Diana camera?

I'm looking to buy a vintage camera. It's between the lomo, which I have used before - and the Diana camera which takes awesome photos.

Anyone have personal experience with the Diana?

I'd not bother wasting your money on a stupid plasticcy camera and buy something Like a Canonet or one of the Olympus 35 series rangefinders. Or an old manual SLR - I picked up two Olympus OM-10s last month with the beautiful Zuiko 50mm f/1.8 lenses, each costing less than £20.

The only advantage that that Diana and Holga have however, is that they're about the cheapest route to a compact(ish) medium format camera. Medium format film is brilliant, but tricky and pricey to get processed unless you're DIYing it. If medium format's important to you, I'd say get a Lubitel, Seagull or Kiev. The crappo plastic lenses on the Diana and Holga equate to pretty much a waste of good film in my view.

So anyway... moral of the story... don't waste yer cash on fashionable cameras like the diana, when for less cash you can get a really nice wee Japanese 35mm rangefinder, and let your photography do the talking rather than just using flare and light leaks as an excuse for "artiness".

Oh. I got a free one a while ago, and love using it, but I haven't got my pictures back yet so can't say how good they are or how worth it a Diana is.

I love it though. I feel super-cool when I hold it.

"Because he'd cut a hole in it." said Andrew, authoritively.
I ventured that I would just have gone at it between the cushions.
There's more than one way to fuck a couch.

Ok I see your point about cheap plastic lenses.

Yet there is also the thing that if I'm not worried about light leaks, and splodges why would I need to aim to buy a camera with a perfect lense - if I want "realisticness", I could just stick to my digital camera.

I'm looking for cameras that produce images that do not look like digital camera images. which is why i'm asking about the diana, holga etc...

Yeah i get what you mean. I'm looking for something exactly the same (for my trips to London and Budapest this summer) and came across the Diana too. Thinking about buying it but I'm a bit worried after Bigmuff's comments.
I don't want a too expensive one though.
