| I'd not bother wasting your money on a stupid plasticcy camera and buy something Like a Canonet or one of the Olympus 35 series rangefinders. Or an old manual SLR - I picked up two Olympus OM-10s last month with the beautiful Zuiko 50mm f/1.8 lenses, each costing less than £20.
The only advantage that that Diana and Holga have however, is that they're about the cheapest route to a compact(ish) medium format camera. Medium format film is brilliant, but tricky and pricey to get processed unless you're DIYing it. If medium format's important to you, I'd say get a Lubitel, Seagull or Kiev. The crappo plastic lenses on the Diana and Holga equate to pretty much a waste of good film in my view.
So anyway... moral of the story... don't waste yer cash on fashionable cameras like the diana, when for less cash you can get a really nice wee Japanese 35mm rangefinder, and let your photography do the talking rather than just using flare and light leaks as an excuse for "artiness". |
