| | | Those are intimidatingly good for someone so used to working with acrylics. You can tell a lot of work went into them. I especially like the second one. your use of colour and brush strokes for the sky is exquisite and the composition of the mountain is just SPOT ON. And I dunno if this was intended but the balloon-carriage fading into the skyline as though it's one with the scenery is a nice touch.
Ok I think that is the flash lol soz
you're a v skilled artist.
I'd upload mine 'cept they're all uncool boring prescribed realism |

| | | Thank you so much for the compliments. I really still feel like a beginner with oil painting because of how I used acrylic for so long. Someone sent me a rep saying the one on the top is no oil painting but it is! It was only the second oil I ever did, so I probably used too much paint thinner or something cause yes it is a bit flat. I was stuck on that one for a shitload of time because I began making it too detailed- see, I started oil painting because I have very shaky hands and was having trouble doing acrylic cause acryclic painting sort of feels like sketching to me and I can no longer draw either because of my shaky hands. But by adapting a bit of an impressionist style using oil I can sorta conceal the fact that I have a lot of trouble making a straight line, haha.
No, you should upload some of yours, I'm sure they're great! |

| | | Hey, I'm just getting started in oils myself. In the past I always found acrylic much easier to use but lately I've really started to love working with oil. Love the second pic btw.

| | Love oil painting, but I don't get to do it as often as i'd like.
This is one I did 3 or 4 years ago for my final year of high school. I hated it so much at the time it gave me hell, & I haven't seen it since I handed it in so no doubt its thrown out now...
and this one I did recently |

| | | Um, I don't know, just play around with it I guess. It took me a few years to get the hang of oils and realize that you can really accentuate the color/highlights with the brush strokes better when you don't thin and/or mix the paint as much. I kind of feel like I'm sculpting in a way when I oil paint. I think oil painting is harder than acrylic painting but (to me anyway) it's more rewarding. I just like what can be done with oils. SOMEONE ELSE POST THEIR STUFF, DAMN!!! |

| | Yes Desiderata, I love those as well. I like the colors and how you do those little lines/shapes through them, it's something I've never been able to do! They look great. |

| | | PIPs (paintings in progress) This one is almost done. Just need to do more detailing to the wings/feathers (my hands are very shaky and it's been difficult getting this done).
This one might be done... I don't know if I want to do anything else to it. Suggestions?
This one is called "Kill the Lights" and I don't know what else I want to do with it, I just know I'm not satisfied with it yet...
This one shouldn't take much longer. My friend said the boy in the front looks retarded and I said "Well MAYBE HE IS!" haha |

| | wow... there are some really beautiful pieces in this thread- particularly CounterfeitVoid's owl piece...
I work predominantly in acrylics, inks and mixed media, but would love to experiment more with oils...
(This is my first post, so please forgive me if I've posted these in the wrong place ) |
