50s pinup looking flower hair pins

has anyone tried making these themselves?

i went to the craft store and bought a nice bouquet of hibiscus and lillies and some other flowers i don't recognize, but in any case they're very pretty and big.

i cut them up and bought a glue gun and some hair pins and ribbon....

and you know what i think i am on the way to a good idea! i've made a few but they're not quite right, so i'm trying to work out the bugs.

anyone tried this before? any tips?

it's pretty easy with a glue gun, i guess. i've never used one.

you can glue the flowers onto a hair clip. maybe a bobby pin. i would glue on strips of ribbon & let it hang down.

this sounds like fun. i don't see how you could screw it up. i make my own hair accessories with super glue & hair clippies.

what's wrong with the ones you made?

well the way i've glued it onto the hairpin, if you clip it into your hair, the flower is like jutting off the clipper part, and you can see the metal underneath. i don't like it. i wanted the pin part to be more disguised.

any hints?

attach more flowers or some petals around the clip. i hope that works. you can paint the clip with nail polish, either your hair color or the color of the flowers.

if you're not in the mood, wait until you are. some things can't be forced.

Shimmer_rot is on a distinguished road
i had the same problem with a few that i've made
if you're using roses or similar flowers try to iron down the outer
petals a little if you can (it helps the flower look more open and pulls it down closer to the hair - hides the clip aswell). I've also found that using the longer 'claw' clips work better rather than normal hair clips and bobby pins.

also have u cut the stem part right down to the petals? and if your flowers came with leaves, use a leaf or two to help hide and support the hair clip.

really? to look cheap, i like to rip the front of my tops down the front to show lots of cleavage. then i cut/rip the sides of my skirts & dresses up the sides (i saw this on Tyra) to show a little fancy underwear.
