| | | Picture This Channel 4 photography competition This should maybe go in the screening room but it is about photography so...
Has anyone been watching this show? The final is on tonight and I think that both the finalists deserve it really, although I love Lucinda. The documentary photographer guy was so gutted when he lost out last week, if looks could kill! He obviously thought he was something special.
I didn't think much of the judging really, it reminded me of textual analysis in English class where you get to the point where you're really just talking bollocks. Picture This - A Friendly Place to Improve Your Photography Elizabeth Gordon Lucinda Chua - Photography |

| | | The show gave me reason to want to put down my camera and never go to art school. Its kind of typical they'd get a show at the Baltic all hidden up norf. I thought one of the guys at the beginning was the better photographer, the bald one who i think got knocked out in round one or two? (not the wanker one trying to take pictures of tramps, the other who was actually quite nice). |

| | | I think it was Jay? The other guy was the one who put lots of signage in his pictures a la David Shrigley.
Why did it make you want to put down your camera? I'm not disagreeing or anything just wondering. I thought the judges were just full of it. |

| | | I dunno, they were just so, tyical? I think, Jay came across the best because he seemed the most genuine, talented and least up himself. The girl with the black hair in the final seemed like a typical airy fairy arts student and the guy who was obsessed that all homeless were on crack really needed a slap. But yeah, the judges were annoying. Also the older guy with the glasses who's name escapes me has been trying to get into Magnum for years and they keep rejecting him which i think is quite funny. But then i guess the whole thing is just the art world for you. I might go along and see the winners exhition, wasn't it about the levels of drunkness?? |

| | | Yeah the winner did lots of self portraits documenting her alcoholic years, and the exhibition had stuff on other female acoholics. |

| | | Yeah i think thats just the thing about 'art' that i don't get. Like that other guy, who probably thought he was being shocking and in his mind bringing some social injustice to light, when really he was just being a smug middle class twat. |
